West Midlands Railway confirms reduced timetable on Monday 7 November despite strike suspension

West Midlands Railway (WMR) has confirmed a reduced timetable on Monday 7 November, with four additional reinstated services after industrial action was suspended.

Due to the lateness of the RMT announcement on Friday afternoon, it will not be possible to reinstate the normal West Midlands Railway timetable. This is due to staffing rosters and train movements being planned many days in advance.

A reduced service will still be in operation on Monday, with four additional reinstated services following the announcement of the strike suspension.

Jonny Wiseman, WMR customer experience director, said:

“I welcome the news that the industrial action has been suspended. The announcement came late on Friday (4 November) which was unfortunately too late to reinstate a full service on Saturday (5 November) and tomorrow (Monday 7 November).

“Due to planning processes being complex, we are not able to simply switch back to an original weekday plan on Monday. West Midlands Railway and Network Rail colleagues have worked over the weekend to enable us to reinstate four additional services tomorrow.

"Updates to the level of service we can operate on Wednesday will be added to the website as soon as they are available.”

Original routes with a limited service on Monday:

• Cross-City Line (Lichfield Trent Valley – Redditch/Bromsgrove via Birmingham New Street (2 trains per hour)
• Wolverhampton-Birmingham (1 train per hour)
• Birmingham New Street-Birmingham International (1 train per hour)

Additional reinstated routes on Monday following industrial action suspension:

• Birmingham Snow Hill – Kidderminster (1 train per hour)
• Birmingham New Street – Walsall (1 train per hour)
• Leamington Spa – Nuneaton (1 train every two hours)
• Stourbridge Town Car – normal weekday timetable

Trains will only run from 7am to 7pm. No services will be in operation on any other WMR route apart from the seven mentioned above.

Work is ongoing to establish the level of service that can run on Wednesday 9 November. Updates will be added to the website as soon as possible.
