Head office

Managaement teams and head office support functions are based in Birmingham and around the network.


We have a sales and marketing team that promote our services and support brand awareness initiatives to encourage journeys, along with a revenue management team that manage our product propositions, retail projects and revenue insights.


The control team are involved in investigating, attributing and resolving delays in real-time. They also ensure that our customers and colleagues have all the information they need to help them make informed decisions about using our train service, making sure that any changes to the service are reflected in our customer and staff information channels.

Customer experience

The customer experience directorate encompasses roles across our train crew and stations, whilst we also have roles based at head office such as our customer relations advisors who communicate directly with West Midlands Railway customers, providing information on a range of issues such as journey planning, complaint resolution and general enquiries.

Finance and procurement

The finance team maintains all aspects of financial control of the business, with regular forecasting and target setting to meet long term strategic business goals, management of payroll and accounting processes. The procurement team focus on supplier management, contract management and contract compliance.

Health and safety

The Health, Safety, Security, Environment (HSSE) team is responsible for safety, environment and sustainability throughout the company, promoting continuous improvement across West Midlands Railway.

Human resources

The HR team encompasses reward, recruitment, employee relations, internal communications, learning and development and our training academy.


The team provides IT support services for the entire business right across the network.


The property team ensure the inspection, maintenance and refurbishment of all of our properties. They also look after new infrastructure projects and work with third parties to introduce new infrastructure to our network.

Train planning and timetabling

The team ensures that our network keeps moving with strategic and long-term timetable planning, short-term resource planning, and managing the impact of projects on our train service such as platform.
