Passengers advised to check before they travel between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon this afternoon

West Midlands Railway passengers are being advised to check their train times on the Snow Hill lines this afternoon (22 March), following a bridge strike near Yardley Wood.

A lorry struck the railway bridge on Robin Hood Lane around midday today, and the line has been closed for an inspection to take place.

Until this inspection has taken place and the bridge cleared to re-open, trains between Birmingham Snow Hill and Whitlocks End and Stratford-upon-Avon via Shirley, may be delayed or cancelled.

Trains between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon are able to operate an hourly service on the line via Dorridge.

Rail replacement buses are operating between Shirley and Stratford-upon-Avon for intermediate stations.

Tickets are being accepted on local bus routes between Birmingham and Shirley until further notice.

The franchise is a joint venture between Abellio (70.1% share) and East Japan Railway Company / Mitsui & Co., Ltd (29.9% share in a 50:50 split). Abellio is the international passenger transport subsidiary of the Dutch national railway company, Nederlandse Spoorwegen.
