Be part of the pride and create your own Pride Festival!

Pride celebrations may not be quite the same this year due to the current situation but fear not! Together we are working with industry partners, including Network Rail , the Rail Delivery Group , and our sister companies to participate in a virtual Pride Festival for train company employees between 22 June – 4 July. Although lots of public Pride events have been cancelled this year, you could still create your own home events ensuring you adhere to the latest government advice on social distancing. Here are just some of the activities we are doing to give you inspiration on how you can get involved yourself.

Movie night

Whether you watch a movie, a documentary or a series, there are plenty of things to watch this Pride. So, get your popcorn at the ready, ask your friends to watch the same film at the same time, then jump on a call with them afterwards to discuss all the most iconic scenes and messages from the film.

Drag Pride bingo

Eyes down! Bingo lover or not, join in with a game of bingo and get to know some LGBTQ+ fun facts and phrases!

How does it work we hear you say?

  1. Create a list of some fun, FABULOUS, LGBTQ+ inspired words and send them to your friends and family who want to take part
  2. Ask those taking part to create their bingo card using words taken from the list you provided
  3. Together on a virtual group chat, begin your bingo night in
  4. To add a bit of ‘razzle dazzle’ to your night, why not award a prize for the best dressed! Fly that rainbow flag high and have fun

Pride quiz

Let’s get quizzical! Whether it’s on a Zoom call with some friends, or in the house with your family, grab your drinks and get involved in a Pride Quiz together!

Here are some round topics to get you thinking:

  • Round one: LGBTQ+ films
  • Round two: History of Pride
  • Round three: Famous people who represent the LGBTQ+ community
  • Round four: How well do you know your Pride flags
  • Round five: Music from LGBTQ+ singers and allies

Coffee and chat

Sometimes it is the simpler things in life that make the difference. So, why not grab your friends and family for a coffee and a virtual chat. Talking to others can really help you share your thoughts and help build a better relationship with others, as you learn more about one another and the challenges you or someone you know has faced.

Stay safe and enjoy the week ahead with all your very own Pride festival. Don’t forget you must follow all government advice when participating in these activities, find out more here.
