Shakespeare's Birthplace

In 1847, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust purchased the house where playwright William Shakespeare was born and brought up from a descendant of Joan Hart, one of his sisters. The rooms in the half-timbered building are furnished as accurately as possible to recreate the 1570s interior - including a glover's workshop - and costumed guides vividly bring the attraction to life.
