Sarehole Mill

Dating back to the mid-18th century, Sarehole Mill casts a striking silhouette on the mill pond and supposedly inspired author J. R. R. Tolkien to put pen to paper for his Middle Earth adventures. The one working waterwheel, which used to grind wheat, is currently out of action as a result of flooding but the building's rich history is undimmed. The mill is a 10-minute walk from Hall Green train station.
