National Trust: Charlecote Park
This remarkable house was built in 1558 by Sir Thomas Lucy and his descendants still occupy one wing. With great chimneys and mellow brickwork it sums up the essence of Tudor England. Outside there is a deer park landscaped by 'Capability' Brown and a formal garden. Take the Stagecoach 15 bus from Alcester Road, outside the train station, to the Charlecote Pheasant Hotel and walk to the house.
