Storm Dennis update and advice to rail users

West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway are advising passengers to check before they travel tomorrow morning and allow more time for their journeys as Storm Dennis continues to affect the rail network.Flooding continues to affect services and road access to some stations.

The lines from Birmingham to Shrewsbury and Hereford ( via Bromsgrove ) have now reopened as flood water has receded. However services between Birmingham and Rugeley Trent Valley ( via Walsall) and Stratford upon Avon to Whitlocks End are still suspended.

Services to and from the North West of England are severely disrupted due to to damage to overhead power lines near Stafford and Runcorn.

A spokesperson for the two train companies said “This is a constantly changing picture so check before you set off and allow more time for your trip. Some journeys are taking longer than normal due to the impact of Storm Dennis and there is a strong chance that Monday morning’s services will be affected also.

“Passengers delayed 15 minutes or more are encouraged to claim delay repay compensation via the train company websites.”
