Major disruption at Rugeley Trent Valley

Passengers using London Northwestern Railway services via Rugeley Trent Valley are being advised to check their journeys this evening (Fri 16 Aug) as work to repair damaged overhead lines continues.

Engineers from Network Rail have been working to repair the damaged infrastructure since this morning but displaced trains and crew mean delays and cancellations are expected to continue for the rest of the day.

Ticket acceptance is in place on Virgin Trains and CrossCountry services via reasonable routes.

Affected services include those running directly between London Euston and Crewe, particularly impacting passengers at Stafford, Rugeley Trent Valley, Lichfield Trent Valley, Tamworth, Atherstone and Nuneaton.

Services between Rugeley Trent Valley and Birmingham are also affected by the loss of electric power caused by this morning's incident.

The West Midlands Trains franchise started on 10 December 2017 and will run until 2025/26.
