Acorns Children’s Hospice (Acorns) will be collecting vital funds for life-limited children this leap day at some of our West Midlands Railway stations.

A leap year may be special for some, but for Acorns , it is especially special as February’s extra day means they need additional funding to help care and support life-limited children.

Did you know, it costs £27,000 a day to run Acorns’ three hospices and provide vital support to families that need it most? Therefore, Acorns are on a mission to help raise additional funds for children in need.

Therefore, we have partnered up with the amazing team at Acorns on Saturday who will be fundraising at Birmingham Snow Hill, Worcester Foregate Street and Walsall. So we are appealing to you, the wonderful people of the West Midlands, that if you’re passing through any of these stations on the day, give the volunteers a wave and maybe some spare change as well.

Acorns Chief Executive Toby Porter commented: “For many families who use Acorns, knowing our specialist care and support services are available whenever they need them brings genuine comfort. Leap years are no different. For Acorns, this means we must raise an additional day’s funding to deliver our vital children’s hospice care.”

“Raising the funds we need each and every day to provide our services is a real challenge for a local charity like Acorns. We are only able to do this thanks to the incredible support of our local communities. So, our message to you is this, please make your extra day count by supporting Acorns this February 29.”
