Free cycle safety checks 2020

Thursday, 23 July 2020

Get free cycle safety checks this summer with free Love your Bike sessions.

Since lockdown more people are cycling, which is why we have teamed up with Transport for West Midlands and Cycling UK to fund a series of cycle safety sessions located at some of our busiest stations as part of the Big Bike Revival campaign.

Brenda Lawrence, head of stations commented: “Helping our customers travel sustainably is a priority for us, which is why we’re proud to support these bike safety and security sessions with our partners. We’re also investing in thousands of secure cycle spaces supported by CCTV across our network to help passengers travel with confidence.”

What is a Love your Bike session?

Love your Bike sessions are free drop-in events where you can bring your cycle along for a free safety check, with the offer of security marking. Better yet, the first five participants at each event will receive a free bicycle ‘D-lock’! If you do miss out on the free lock, don’t worry, you can purchase these locks for just £10 at the Network West Midlands travel shops in Birmingham New Street station and Wolverhampton bus station.

What stations are the Love to Bike sessions at?

Attendance is free and there is no need to book – just turn up at the station between 16:30 – 18:30.

Stations hosting these sessions include:

  • Sandwell & Dudley (July 23)
  • Selly Oak (Aug 4 and Aug 11)
  • Stourbridge Junction (Aug 5 & Aug 12)
  • Sutton Coldfield (Aug 6 & Aug 13)

Please note: Social distancing measures will be in place to keep staff and participants safe
