Register your interest to become a member of our Stakeholder Equality Group.
We are currently recruiting for members to join our Stakeholder Equality Group (SEG) to ensure that we are engaging with members who have a range of experiences, backgrounds and expertise in how we can break down the barriers faced by disabled people when travelling.
What is SEG?
Our SEG is made up of around 50 members from across the rail industry, individuals and interest groups representing the needs of people from the full range of Protected Characteristics under the Equality Act. They help and advise us on various initiatives, as well as play an important role in monitoring our performance.
Who are we looking for?
If you are either a regular passenger with us, or a member of an organisation supporting those with disabilities or other protected characteristics and think you could be an active part of this group – we would love to hear from you.
At present we are particularly focused on applications from those who identify as, or represent, those who are:
- Registered as deaf and rely on British Sign Language or similar
What is involved?
As a member you will be expected to:
- Regularly attend meetings and give feedback
- Complete ‘mystery shopping’ activity based on journeys you make
- From time to time take part in additional groups on specific topics as appropriate
All meetings will be taking place virtually until further notice. We will then endeavour the return to in-person meetings when it is appropriate. These will likely take place in Birmingham or across other locations on our West Midlands Railway network or London Northwestern Railway network as agreed by the group.
The group meet bi-monthly throughout the year and is supported by Senior Management from across West Midlands Trains (operator of West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway).
Please note: travel costs and reasonable expenses for undertaking any activities in relation to the SEG will be covered.
How to apply?
You can register your interest by completing the form below. We will review all applications and let you know if a vacancy in the group is available that is suitable for you.
